Let \(f(z)\) be a meromorphic function in the complex plane. Denote by \[ \sigma_{\log }(f)=\limsup_{r\to\infty}\frac{\log T(r,f)}{\log\log r} \] the logarithmic order of \(f(z)\). The authors consider the value distribution of \(q\)-difference polynomials in a transcendental meromorphic function \(f(z)\) of finite logarithmic order. They also investigate the uniqueness problem for difference-differential polynomials in \(f(z)\). One of the results is the following: Let \(f(z)\) be a transcendental meromorphic function of finite logarithmic order, with the logarithmic exponent of convergence of poles less than \(\sigma_{\log}(f)-1\) and let \(a\), \(q\) be nonzero complex constants. If \(n\geq3\), then the \(q\)-difference polynomial of the form \[ af^n(qz+c)+f(z)-\alpha(z) \] has infinitely many zeros, where \(\alpha(z)\) is a small function with respect to \(f(z)\). The proofs are mostly obtained by the \(q\)-difference analogue of Nevanlinna theory, which has been developed in these days, see, e.g., [\textit{D. C. Barnett} et al., Proc. R. Soc. Edinb., Sect. A, Math. 137, No. 3, 457--474 (2007; Zbl 1137.30009)] and [\textit{J. Zhang} and \textit{R. Korhonen}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 369, No. 2, 537--544 (2010; Zbl 1198.30033)].
