Let \(R\) be a commutative integral domain. We mean by \(\dim~R\) the Krull dimension of \(R\). The valuative dimension of \(R\), denoted by \(\dim_vR\), is the maximal rank of the valuation overrings of \(R\). The integral domain \(R\) is said to be a Jaffard ring if \(\dim~R=\dim_vR<\infty\). Recall also that the integral domain \(R\) is called an almost pseudo-valuation domain (APVD) if \(R\) is quasi-local with maximal ideal \(M\) such that \((M:M)\) is a valuation overring of \(R\) with \(M\) primary to the maximal ideal of \((M:M)\). In this paper, the author considers an APVD \(R\) and gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the formal power series ring \(R[[X_1,\ldots,X_n]]\) to be a Jaffard domain.
