Dynamics of unitary operators (Q2019207)

In this paper, the dynamics of unitary operators acting on Hilbert spaces are considered. The spreading rates of the associated dynamical system relative to a given orthonormal basis are studied. The transport exponents are defined and lower bounds of these exponents are established in terms of regularity of the spectral measure. Moreover, the unitary operator given by a CMV (semi-infinite) matrix is considered. Some connections between quantum walks on the integers and CMV matrices are discussed. Also, the authors use the Fibonacci quantum walk as an example and derive explicit lower bounds for spreading rates associated with this model.
