The authors are concerned with the finite element solutions to the 2D time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations in velocity and pressure variables. For problems with a high Reynolds number, i.e., low viscosity, they assume that the inverse of viscosity is bounded in some sense. Actually, they use a linearized auxiliary problem, an iterative procedure and the contraction fixed point principle in order to prove that the weak solution of the Navier-Stokes equations satisfies some stability results, which give the viscosity explicit bounds with algebraic orders. Finite elements stability and error results for linearized problems and the original nonlinear problem are obtained with the same strategy. It is difficult to appreciate the realism of these estimates (the magnitude of their right hand side members). Unfortunately, the introduced method is not illustrated with any numerical example in order to validate it, at least to some extent!
