Taking into account of the lag in the reactivation of latent infection and assuming the lags from virus entering uninfected cell to produce infected and latently infected cells to be random, the authors proposed a within-host HIV model with discrete and distributed delays and the Beddington-DeAngelis incidence. The main result is a threshold dynamics characterized by the basic reproduction number \(R_0\). If \(R_0<1\), then the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable while if \(R_0>1\), then the endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable under an addition condition. The results are established through analyzing the characteristic equations and employing the approach of Lyapunov functional. Note that \(R_0\) depends on the lag of reactivation and virus mature time, which implies that large reactivation lag can eliminate virus infection.
