The authors study the global well-poseness of the one-dimensional full compressible Navier-Stokes equations under stress free and thermally insulated boundary conditions, where the viscosity coefficient depends on the density and is bounded from below by a positive constant, and the heat conductivity is proportional to a positive power of the temperature. By modifying the arguments due to [\textit{A. V. Kazhikhov} and \textit{V. V. Shelukhin}, ``Unique global solution with respect to time of initial-boundary value problems for one-dimensional equations of a viscous gas'', J. Appl. Math. Mech. 41, No. 2, 273--282 (1977; \url{doi:10.1016/0021-8928(77)90011-9})] and using a priori estimates, the authors establish the existence and uniqueness of global strong solutions with \(H^1\) initial data, generalizing thus the result of \textit{R. Duan} et al. [J. Differ. Equations 262, No. 8, 4314--4335 (2017; Zbl 1367.35106)], in which more regular initial data are required.
