Rognes and Lunøe-Nielsen have shown that the topological Hochschild homology spectra of the complex cobordism spectrum \(\mathrm{MU}\) and the \(p\)-local Brown-Peterson spectrum \(\mathrm{BP}\) satisfy a form of the Segal conjecture [\textit{S. Lunøe-Nielsen} and \textit{J. Rognes}, J. Topol. 4, No. 3, 591--622 (2011; Zbl 1229.55006)]. More specifically, they have shown that the Tate-valued Frobenius map \[ \varphi_p \colon \mathrm{THH}(R) \to \mathrm{THH}(R)^{tC_p} \] is a \(p\)-adic equivalence for \(R = \mathrm{MU}\) or \(R = \mathrm{BP}\). In the paper under review, the authors establish such an equivalence for \(R = X(k)\) where the \(X(k)\) are certain \(E_2\)-ring spectra that fit into a sequence \(\mathbb S \to X(1) \to X(2) \to \dots \to \mathrm{MU}\). These spectra were introduced by \textit{D. C. Ravenel} [Am. J. Math. 106, 351--414 (1984; Zbl 0586.55003)] and play an important part in the proof of the Nilpotence Theorem. There is an analogous sequence of homotopy commutative ring spectra \(\mathbb S \to T(1) \to T(2) \to \dots \to \mathrm{BP}\) where \(T(n)\) is a summand of the \(p\)-localization of \(X(k)\). Under the assumption that \(T(n) \to \mathrm{BP}\) can be rigidified to an \(E_2\)-map, the authors show that the Tate-valued Frobenius map \(\varphi_p\) is also a \(p\)-adic equivalence for \(R = T(n)\). These results are relevant for understanding the topological cyclic homology of the spectra \(X(k)\) and \(T(n)\) and therefore provide a step towards the computation of their algebraic \(K\)-theory.
