The authors consider a BOundary Update using Resolvent (BOUR) partitioned method for the interaction between a viscous incompressible fluid and a thin structure. The scheme is second-order accurate in time, unconditionally stable. The method is similar to the sequential Backward Euler-Forward Euler implementation of the midpoint quadrature rule. The main novelty of the BOUR algorithm is the way in which the interface conditions are combined with the fluid and structure sub-problems. The stability and convergence properties of the semi-discretized scheme are analyzed. Error analysis of the semi-discrete problem yields second-order convergence in time. The numerical results indicate optimal convergence rate of the BOUR method.
