A compact Riemann surface \(X\) of genus \(g \geqslant 2\) is termed an \textit{origami} if there exist an elliptic curve \(E\) and a non-constant holomorphic map \[\beta: X \to E\]with at most one branch value; the pair \((X, \beta)\) is an \textit{origami pair}. It is classically known that each finite group can be realised as a group of automorphisms of a compact Riemann surface of a suitable genus. Furthermore, each finite group can be realised as a subgroup of \[\mbox{Aut}(X, \beta)=\{u \in \mbox{Aut}(X): \beta=\beta \circ u\}\]for some origami pair \((X,\beta)\). The article under review is devoted to proving the following result. If \(G\) is a finite group and acts as a group of automorphisms of a compact Riemann surface \(Y\) of genus \(g \geqslant 2\) in such a way that the genus of the quotient \(Y/G\) is positive, then there is an origami pair \((X,\beta)\) satisfying the following properties: \begin{enumerate} \item \(X\) has genus \(g,\) \item \(G\) and \(\mbox{Aut}(X,\beta)\) are isomorphic groups, and \item the action of \(\mbox{Aut}(X,\beta)\) on \(X\) and the action of \(G\) on \(Y\) are topologically equivalent. \end{enumerate} As each finite group acts on a suitable Riemann surface as a group of automorphisms with quotient of genus at least two, the author obtains as a corollary that every finite group is isomorphic to \(\mbox{Aut}(X,\beta)\) (instead of a subgroup of it) for some origami pair \((X,\beta).\) The proof of the results is based on the topological description of origami pairs, Fuchsian groups and the theory of covering maps.
