This paper is devoted to study the existence of modified scattering for the higher-order nonlinear Hartree-type equation in three space dimensions \[ \left\{ \begin{array} [c]{c} i\partial_{t}u+\frac{1}{2}\triangle u-\frac{1}{4}\triangle^{2}u=u\mathcal{R} \left\vert u\right\vert ^{2},\text{ }t>0,\text{ }x\in\mathbb{R}^{3},\\ u\left( 0,x\right) =u_{0}\left( x\right) ,\text{ }x\in\mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{array} \right. \tag{1} \] where \(\mathcal{R}\) is the Riesz potential given by \(\mathcal{R} \phi=\left\vert x\right\vert ^{-1}\ast\phi\), \(\ast\) denoting the convolution in \(\mathbb{R}^{3}.\) It is known that the usual Hartree equation has a modified character for large time in the three-dimensional setting. The aim of the present paper is to extend this result to equation (1). It is shown that for initial data \(u_{0}\in\mathbf{H}^{5,0}\cap\mathbf{H}^{2,1}\cap \mathbf{H}^{0,2}\) (\(\mathbf{H}^{m,n}\) denotes the usual weighted Sobolev spaces of order \(m\) and weight \(n)\) small enough the solution \(u\) is global and has a modified character as \(t\rightarrow\infty.\) That is to say, it behaves asymptotically as a linear solution modulated by a logarithmic phase. The proof is based on the factorization technique. The authors deal with an additional difficulty of a nonlocal nonlinear interaction.
