The work of Mike Hochman on multidimensional symbolic dynamics and Borel dynamics (Q2026747)

The article reviews the impact of Mike Hochman's work on mutlidimensional symbolic dynamics and Borel dynamics. It is based on the talk the author gave on the occasion of the awarding of the Brin Prize to Mike Hochman. The author reviews the major results from the following articles: (1) [\textit{M. (JEMS) 21, No. 1, 271--317 (2019; Zbl 1415.37016)]. He gives definitions to set the context, recalls the state of the art before Hochman's work, and then discusses the impact of this work.
