The authors consider a coupled fixed point problem with the assumption that the mapping satisfies a contractive inequality condition involving a special type of function known as \(\mathbf{C}\)-class function in metric spaces. The authors prove the existence and uniqueness of a coupled fixed point of such mappings. The well-posedness of the problem is also investigated. The main result is illustrated with an example. The authors also discuss an application of the fixed point result to a problem of functional equations which is relevant to dynamic programming. .
