Consider two abelian varieties \(A_1,A_2\). We say \(A_1,A_2\) are weakly isomorphic if they are isomorphic as unpolarized abelian varieties. Let \(\mathcal{A}_g\) be the coarse moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties. In this article, the authors mainly show that if \(g\geq 2\) and \(f:\mathcal{A}_g\dashrightarrow X\) is a rational map over an algberaically closed field \(k\) which contracts weakly isomorphic classes, then \(f\) is constant. It implies that there is no nontrivial algebraic numerical invariant which respects weakly isomorphism. This is not true for \(g=1\), since the \(j\)-invariant gives a counterexample. They deduce the main theorem by showing that the defining set of equivalence relation for weakly isomorphism is Zariski dense in the \(k\)-scheme \(\mathcal{A}_g\times\mathcal{A}_g\). They also show the version with \(\mathcal{A}_g\) replaced by \(\mathcal{A}_1^g\) is true with \(g\geq2\).
