Pseudo-Riemannian metrics in dimension 4 and with neutral signature were classified by Petrov into 6 classes, later referred to as \(I\), \(D\), \(O\), \(II\), \(N\), \(III\). The classification is based on the algebraic type of the \(\lambda\)-matrix, which is related to the Weyl tensor and the Hodge operator. In the case of self duality and anti-self duality, the determinant of the \(\lambda\)-matrix has a root 0 with multiplicity at least 3. The cases with multiplicity 4 can be considered as a new class, denoted by \(I_0\). Examples of special metrics which provide examples of self dual and anti-self dual metrics of types \(D\), \(II\), \(III\) and examples of anti-self dual metrics of types \(I\), \(I_0\), \(N\) and \(O\) are given.
