The authors consider the numerical simulation of a model of flows with laminar to turbulent transition due to the separation of boundary layer. Such model consists of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations which are completed by the explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model (EARSM) of turbulence. The EARSM model is successfully enhanced with additional source term which improved its predictive capabilities in cases with boundary layer separation induced transition from laminar to turbulent state. The approximation of the model under consideration is performed using finite volume methods based on the second order HLLC (Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact) scheme and explicit Runge-Kutta method. Some numerical tests are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed method.
