Here is the author's abstract: ``We characterize skew polynomial rings and skew power: series rings that are reduced and right or left Archimedean.'' Here is one of the four characterizations: For a ring \(R\) and an endomorphism \(\alpha\) of \(R\), the following three conditions are equivalent: \begin{enumerate} \item \(R[x; \alpha]\) is a reduced right Archimedean ring. \item \(R[x; \alpha]\) is a right Archimedean domain. \item \(R\) is a right Archimedean domain, \(\alpha\) is injective and \(\alpha\) preserves non-units of \(R\). \end{enumerate} Recall that a ring \(R\) is right Archimedean if \(\bigcap_{n=1}^{\infty}Ra^{n}=(0)\) for each non-unit \(a\) of \(R\).
