In the present paper, the authors define a class of Shimura varieties closely related to unitary groups which represent a moduli problem of abelian varieties with additional structure. This class of Shimura varieties is a variant of the Deligne-Kottwitz Shimura varieties. They compare their Shimura varieties with other unitary Shimura varieties.
