A local automorphism of an associative algebra \(A\) is a linear map \(\phi\) from \(A\) to itself such that for each \(x\in A\), there exists an automorphism \(\theta_x\) of \(A\) with \(\phi(x)=\theta_x(x)\). Moreover, a map \(\psi\) from \(A\) to itself is a 2-local automorphism if for \((x,y)\in A^2\), it exists an automorphism \(\theta_{(x,y)}\) of \(A\) such that \(\psi(x)=\theta_{(x,y)}(x)\). The authors of the article recall some basic definitions about Witt algebras and generalized Witt algebras depending on an abelian group \(G\), both of infinite dimensional, over a field of characteristic 0. In the paper, they give several properties of simple generalized Witt algebra \(W\), which conduct to the theorem saying that the set of invertible 2-local automorphisms (resp. invertible local automorphisms) of \(W\) is included in the set of automorphims of \(W\). A similar result has been done for \(W\) if \(G\) is finitely generated. As a consequence of these theorems, a Witt algebra \(W_n\) for \(n\in\mathbb{N}\) admits the same results as for the above \(W\).
