The classification of flat Riemannian metrics on the plane (Q2033061)

In this paper, the authors classify all smooth flat Riemannian metrics on the two-dimensional plane. They study mainly the incomplete case in which a lot of non-isometric metrics occurs. As the authors remark, the study and classification of all flat Riemannian metrics on the plane -- as a subject -- is new to the literature. This paper is focused on the study of conformal metrics of special type and especially on metrics of the form \(e^{2\varphi}g_{0}\), where \(\varphi:\mathbb{R}^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\). This kind of metrics, called by the authors ``harmonic'', arise from Riemann surfaces.
