The authors study the traveling wave solutions of a quadratic autocatalytic reaction system. Assuming the complexation reaction is much faster than the autocatalytic reaction, the authors reduce the model system to a two-component system with density-dependent diffusivity. Based on numerical evidence, the authors conjecture that the traveling wave solutions of the reduced system are not linearly determined; namely, for some parameter values, the minimal traveling speed could be larger than the critical speed determined by the linearized system.
