    A generalized eigenvalue problem form \(Ax = \lambda Bx\) is investigated with symmetric and positive semidefinite matrices \(A\) and \(B\) which may depend on a parameter. This kind of eigenvalue problem occurs when elliptic partial differential equations are approximated by schemes that require suitable parameters to be tuned for consistency and/or stability. The behavior of the eigenvalues of the Laplace operator computed with the Virtual Element Method (VEM) is studied depending on the mesh size \(h\) and suitable stabilization parameters chosen for the correct approximation. It was shown that the numerical results are in good agreement with the theory
