The authors study the problem of the existence of a mild solution to the following nonlocal problem in a separable Banach space \(X\): \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} u^{\prime\prime} \in A(t)u(t) + F(t,N(t)(u)), \qquad\,\,\, t\in I:=[0,T]; \\ u(0) = g(u);\\ u^\prime (0) = h(u), \end{array} \right. \] where \(\{A(t)\}_{t \in I}\) is a family of densely defined bounded linear operators \(A(t) \colon D(A) \subseteq X \to X\) generating a fundamental system \(S(t,s)_{(t,s) \in I \times I}\); \(F \colon I \times X \multimap X\) is a upper Carathéodory-type multimap with compact convex values satisfying a regularity condition expressed in terms of the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness; \(N \colon I \to C(C(I;X);X)\) is a certain function. As a corollary, the same problem for the inclusion \[ u^{\prime\prime}(t) \in A(t)u(t) +F(t,u_R(t)), \qquad t \in I, \] with \[ u_R(t) = \left\{ \begin{array}{l} u(t), \qquad \|u(t)\|_X \leq R; \\ R\frac{u(t)}{\|u(t)\|_X},\, \|u(t)\|_X > R \end{array} \right. \] is presented. The application of an abstract result to a system governed by a wave equation is considered.
