Extending the celebrated theorem of \textit{L. Carleson} [Acta Math. 116, 135--157 (1966; Zbl 0144.06402)] on the a.e. convergence of Fourier series, \textit{R. Hunt} [in: Orthogonal expansions and their continuous analogues, Proc. Conf. Southern Illinois Univ. Edwardsville 1967, 235--255 (1968; Zbl 0159.35701)] proved the remarkable restricted weak-type estimate for the Carleson operator. \textit{N. Yu. Antonov} [East J. Approx. 2, No. 2, 187--196 (1996; Zbl 0919.42004)] strengthened this inequality. \textit{P. Sjölin} and \textit{F. Soria} [Stud. Math. 158, No. 1, 79--97 (2003; Zbl 1053.42005)] extended some results of Antonov to more general settings (like the Walsh-Fourier system). \par A Sjölin-Soria-Antonov type extrapolation theorem for locally compact \(\sigma\)-compact non-discrete groups is proved in the paper under review. \par Let \(X\) be a bounded type Vilenkin group, i.e. the direct product of discrete cyclic groups \(\mathbb{Z}_{m_j}=\{0,1,\dots, m_j-1\}\) with \(m_j\geq 2\) \((j\in\mathbb{N})\), \(\sup_j m_j<\infty\) and \((\xi^X_j)\) is the Vilenkin orthonormal system corresponding to \(X\). As an application of the above result it is shown that the Fourier series with respect to \((\xi^X_j)\) converge almost everywhere for functions from the class \(L\log^{+}L\log^{+}\log^{+}\log^{+}L\).
