Let \(\mathbb{F}_q\) be a finite field of characteristic \(p\). For a natural number \(k\) and for a monic polynomial \(f\in\mathbb{F}_q[T]\), define the \(k\)th divisor function \(d_k(f)\) as the number of ways we may write \(f=f_1\cdots f_k\) with monic polynomials \(f_1,\dots,f_k\) all in \(\mathbb{F}_q[T]\). The author of the present paper approximate the sum \(\sum d_k(f+g)\) for a given monic polynomial \(f\), where the sums runs over \(g\in\mathbb{F}_q[T]\) with a control on the \(\deg g\). A similar study has been done for the function-field Möbius function and the function-field von Mangoldt function. The author applies the divisor-sum estimate to obtain estimates for certain moments of \(L\)-functions in the large conductor limit.
