The dyadic half-line is the positive semi-axis \({\mathbb R}_+ = [0, \infty)\) equipped with the usual Lebesgue measure and the bitwise binary addition. More precisely, for arbitrary positive numbers represented in binary form \(x = \sum_{k\in {\mathbb Z}}x_k2^k\) and \(y = \sum_{k\in {\mathbb Z}}y_k2^k,\) their dyadic sum is \(x\oplus y = \sum_{k\in {\mathbb Z}}2^k(x_k + y_k)_2,\) where \((x_k + y_k)_2\) is the sum modulo \(2.\) \textit{B. I. Golubov} [Sb. Math. 198, No. 2, 207--230 (2007; Zbl 1156.46030); translation from Mat. Sb. 198, No. 2, 67--90 (2007)] defined a space \(D_d\) of test functions on the half-line for a dyadic theory of distributions. Also, a corresponding space \(S_d\) of functions rapidly decreasing at infinity was constructed. The spaces \(D_d\) and \(S_d\) are not invariant with respect to the Walsh-Fourier transform, which motivated \textit{S. S. Volosivets} [Sib. Mat. Zh. 50, No. 1, 3--18 (2009; Zbl 1224.42081); translation in Sib. Math. J. 50, No. 1, 1--13 (2009)] to introduce a new space of test functions \(H_d,\) smaller than \(D_d,\) which is invariant with respect to the Walsh-Fourier transform and with the property that every locally integrable function on \({\mathbb R}_+\) belongs to the space of distributions \(H_d^\prime.\) The main inconvenience of this space is that it is not invariant with respect to the multiplication by polynomials. The main result of the paper under review is the following.\par Theorem. There is no vector space of measurable functions on the dyadic half-line containing the indicator function \(\chi_{[0,1)}\) and invariant with respect to both the Walsh-Fourier transform and multiplication by linear functions such that on this space every element of \(L_2({\mathbb R}_+)\) acts by the formula of the inner product. \par The paper also contains a result on wavelets on the dyadic half-line.
