Tits arrangements are, roughly speaking, infinite simplicial hyperplane arrangements in \(\mathbb{R}^d\) that mirror the properties of (finite) Coxeter arrangements and were initially defined in [\textit{M. Cuntz} et al., Rend. Semin. Mat. Univ. Padova 138, 147--191 (2017; Zbl 1393.20018)]. Simplicial arrangements are incredibly rare, and it is an open problem to classify the finite simplicial arrangements of rank three; see the catalog from \textit{B. Grünbaum} in [Ars Math. Contemp. 2, No. 1, 1--25 (2009; Zbl 1177.51020)]. The authors classify the affine rank three Tits arrangements whose corresponding projective root vectors are contained in the locus of a homogeneous cubic polynomial. This property is also shared with the two known infinite families of simplicial arrangements of rank \(3\). The arrangements come in three flavors: the arrangement is a near pencil, isomorphic to \(\widetilde{A}_2\), or isomorphic to the (new) arrangement \(\widetilde{A}_2^0\). The arrangement \(\widetilde{A}_2\) is the usual affine Coxeter arrangement, but \(\widetilde{A}_2^0\) appears to be new -- for example, it is an irreducible Tits arrangements that is not locally spherical. They conclude with three open problems concerning affine rank three Tits arrangements.
