In the algebraic quantum field theory (AQFT), a model is given as a family of von Neumann algebras on a Hilbert space parametrized by spacetime regions. On the Minkowski space, this family is actually determined by its restriction to Rindler wedge regions, and for a bounded region which is an intersection of wedges, the von Neumann algebra is the intersection of the algebras for the corresponding wedges. In the case of the free field theory, this structure is further encoded in an irreducible representation of the Poincaré group, and to each wedge region, a certain closed real subspace is assigned which is fixed by a one-parameter subgroup of (translated) Lorentz boosts and the CPT transformation (the \(\mathbb{Z}\)-grading). The von Neumann algebra for the free field is constructed by the second quantization from this family of closed real subspaces. The authors generalize these structures concerning wedges, one-parameter groups and involutions to a class of \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-graded real Lie groups. In a group in that class, they identify a family of one-parameter groups in a Lie group and involutions and call them abstract wedges. Furthermore, by fixing an invariant cone in the Lie algebra, they define a partial ordering between abstract wedges. It is shown that these structures are present in a large class of \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-graded real Lie groups, and are enough to formulate an analogue of AQFT (the one-particle Haag-Kastler axioms for wedges), except that intersection of wedges (corresponding to double cones in the case of the Poincaré group) remains to be investigated.
