Absolute parallelisms are \(\{e\}\)-structures where \(\{e\}\) is the one-element group. On a \(d\)-dimensional manifold \(M\) any such structure is given by an \(\mathbb R^d\)-valued \(1\)-form that for every \(p\in M\) defines an isomorphism between \(Tp(M)\) and \(\mathbb R^d.\) The (local) equivalence problem for absolute parallelisms is well-understood; therefore one may approach the equivalence problem for CR-structures by trying to reduce it to absolute parallelisms. See for instance the paper by \textit{A. Isaev} and \textit{D. Zaitsev} [J. Geom. Anal. 23, No. 3, 1571--1605 (2013; Zbl 1281.32030)]. In the present paper, the authors develop a bigraded analogue of Tanaka's prolongation procedure to construct an absolute parallelism for ``everywhere 2-nondegenerate'' CR manifolds \(M\) of hypersurface type in arbitrary odd dimension (Theorem 3.2).
