The authors consider hypersurface singularity germs (HSGs) \((X,0)\subset (\mathbb{C}{n+1},0)\). They ask the question whether reducibility of all intersections of a HSG with surfaces implies reducibility of the germ. They explore the existence of irreducible and reducible arc-sections in an irreducible HSG along finite projections. In particular, they provide examples of irreducible isolated hypersurface singularities for which no irreducible arc-sections exist, and show that reducible ones always exist. They propose an algorithm checking whether a given projection allows irreducible arc-sections, and finding them if they exist.
