For a bounded linear operator \(T\) acting on Hilbert space, with polar decomposition \(T = U|T|\), its Aluthge transform is defined by \(\Delta(T) = |T|^{1/2}U|T|^{1/2}\). One of the main result of the paper undr review is the proof of a result conjectured by \textit{I. B. Jung} et al. [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 37, No. 4, 437--448 (2000; Zbl 0996.47008)], namely that the numerical range of \(\Delta(T)\) is always included in the numerical range of \(T\). The more general case of the Aluthge operator field is considered and some Yamazaki type formulas for the spectral radius of \(T\) are obtained.
