For mass action chemical reaction systems, complex balanced equilibria are all asymptotically stable. This does not hold for generalized mass action systems. The present work discusses quite a few notions of stability of equilibria in this context, referring to the Jacobian at the equilibrium, in particular their relationship towards each other and to the question of what kind of stability holds for complex balanced equilibria. E.g., if the system is weakly reversible then complex balanced equilibria are diagonally \(D\)-stable, diagonally stable, \(D\)-stable and linearly stable. Uniqueness of the equilibrium holds in any case of stability discussed.
