The authors find a close connection between stability and oscillation of delay first order differential equation \[ x^{\prime }\left( t\right) +c\left( t\right) x\left( \tau \left( t\right) \right) =0,\quad t\geq 0 \] where \(c\) is locally integrable of any sign, \(\tau \left( t\right)\leq t\) is Lebesgue measurable, \(\lim_{t\rightarrow \infty }\tau \left( t\right) =\infty \). In this paper, by combining the techniques of Lillo and Yorke, the notion of rapid oscillation and also introduce and describe a certain real function \( \Lambda \) has been generalized, such that, the periodic functions corresponding to the results of Myshkis and Lillo, can be represented as points on its graph, so the results of Myshkis and Lillo have been unified for relating the speed of oscillation and stability. Also, the stability criterion for measurable parameters has been improved from \(1+\frac{1}{e}\) to \(\frac{3}{2}\). Finally, convergence conditions, relating the speed of oscillation and convergence, with no sign conditions implied on the coefficient, have been obtained. Examples illustrate the results and the improvement achieved.
