For a discrete metric space \((X,d)\), the uniform Roe algebra of \(X\), denoted \(C^{\ast}_u(X)\), is defined to be the norm closure of the algebra consisting of all bounded operators \((T_{x,y})_{X\times X}\) on \(\ell^2(X)\) with finite propagation (i.e. \(\sup\{d(x,y):T_{x,y}\neq 0\}<\infty\)). The uniform Roe algebra is a coarsely equivalent invariant, i.e. if a metric space \(X\) is coarsely equivalent to another metric space \(Y\), then \(C^{\ast}_u(X)\) is isomorphic to \(C^{\ast}_u(Y)\). Then a natural question arises: is the converse of the above statement true? It is called rigidity problem of uniform Roe algebras. Recently, this problem has been compeletly solved by \textit{F. P. Baudier} et al. within the class of uniformly locally finite metric spaces [``Uniform Roe algebras of uniformly locally finite metric spaces are rigid'', Preprint, \url{arXiv: 2106.11391}]. In this paper, the authors consider the rigidity problem for the uniform Roe corona which is the quotient of the uniform Roe algebra by the ideal of compact operators. Firstly, they showed that it is consistent with ZFC that isomorphism between uniform Roe coronas implies coarse equivalence between the underlying spaces, for the class of uniformly locally finite metric spaces which coarsely embed into a Hilbert space. Secondly, for uniformly locally finite metric spaces with Yu's property A, they proved that it is consistent with ZFC that isomorphism between the uniform Roe coronas is equivalent to bijective coarse equivalence between some of their cofinite subsets. Moreover, they also found some locally finite metric spaces such that the isomorphism of their uniform Roe coronas is independent of ZFC. This paper is written friendly for readers who are not familiar with set theory, because the authors relegated all set-theoretic considerations in this paper to two `black box' principles.
