This paper studies the transversality of smooth maps from smooth manifolds to orbifolds and more general Deligne-Mumford stacks. Under the only substantive hypothesis that the target stacks admit exponential maps, the author obtains a very general criterion for transversality of smooth maps from manifolds to stacks.
