Relying on a combination of ideas involving dimension reduction techniques, monotonicity arguments, as well as an adaptation of the periodic unfolding method, the authors study a power-law Stokes model posed in a thin porous medium (with suitably scaled very thin microstructures). In the homogenization limit, they derive a lower-dimensional Brinkmann model for flow through such porous media.
