Using a variational approach, the authors study well-posedness of the linear dynamic/static three-dimensional models for inhomogeneous piezoelectric, piezomagnetic, thermoelastic solids under mixed boundary conditions. Suitable Sobolev function spaces are introduced to formulate new results on the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence of solutions which are twice continuously differentiable. The following assumptions are made: there is no electric current, and the time rate of the magnetic induction is small. On certain parts of the boundary the density of surface force, and the normal components of the electric displacement, magnetic induction, and heat flux are given, while on the remaining parts of the boundary the mechanical displacement, temperature, electric and magnetic potentials vanish. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1468.74003].
