In this quite interesting short note, concerning the classical implicit function theorem (IFT for short), the authors prove, by judiciously adapting Newton's method, that, under the well-known IFT assumptions, one can derive more information than usually stated, namely, the existence of an implicit function, say \(f\), with its smoothness degree according to the smoothness of the equation defining function, say \(F\), holds not only for \(F\) but also for all functions close to \(F\), relative to the sup norm. Thus, the existence of \(f\) and its properties are guaranteed for a proper neighborhood of \(F\). The authors specifically point out that this IFT amplified version is particularly useful for the derivation of necessary optimality conditions in optimal control problems, see [the authors, Sb. Math. 211, No. 6, 750--785 (2020; Zbl 1481.49005); translation from Mat. Sb. 211, No. 6, 3--39 (2020)], the proof of local controllability of dynamical systems, see [the authors, SIAM J. Control Optim. 58, No. 6, 3212--3236 (2020; Zbl 1452.49001)], and in studying perturbations in optimal control problems, see [the authors, Math. Notes 109, No. 4, 503--516 (2021; Zbl 1468.49019); translation from Mat. Zametki 109, No. 4, 483--499 (2021)].
