Let \(W_\alpha\) be a unilateral weighted shift with a bounded positive weight sequence \(\alpha:=(\alpha_n)_{n\geq0}\), and let \((\gamma_n)_{n\geq0}\) be the sequence of its moments given by \[ \gamma_n= \begin{cases} \alpha_0^2\dots \alpha_{n-1}^2&\text{if }n>0\\ 1&\text{if }n=0 \end{cases} \] Such a shift is \textit{moment infinitely divisible} (\(\mathcal{MID}\)) if, for each \(p\geq0\), the unilateral weighted shift \(W_\alpha^{(p)}\) corresponding to the weight sequence \(\alpha^{(p)}:=(\alpha_n^p)_{n\geq0}\) is subnormal. In this paper, the authors continue their discussion on \(\mathcal{MID}\) weighted shifts that were initiated in their paper [\textit{C. Benhida} et al., Complex Anal. Oper. Theory 13, No. 1, 241--255 (2019; Zbl 07032878)]. In terms of the moment sequence \((\gamma_n)_{n\geq0}\), they obtain a new characterization for \(\mathcal{MID}\) unilateral weighted shifts \(W_\alpha\). They prove, in particular, that a weighted shift whose weight sequence has a limit is moment infinitely divisible if and only if its Aluthge transform is. As a consequence, they prove that the Aluthge transform maps the class of moment infinitely divisible weighted shifts bijectively onto itself. Furthermore, they consider back-step extensions, subshifts, and completions. A number of examples and remarks are given that nicely illustrate the main results of this paper, and certain natural open questions are also provided.
