Let \(N(d)\) denote the maximum cardinality of an equiangular line system in \(\mathbb{R}^d\). The authors show nonexistence of certain equiangular line systems for \(d \in \{14,16,19,20\}\) to prove that \(N(14)=28\), \(N(16)=40\), \(N(19)\leq 74\) and \(N(20)\leq 94\). The first two results have earlier been claimed by \textit{J. J. Seidel} [Handbook of incidence geometry: buildings and foundations, 843--920 (1995; Zbl. 0826.51012)] without proof.
