The author investigates a stability result for viscosity solutions of Hamilton-Jacoby type equation of the form \[ f-\lambda Hf=h \] in the context of non-compact spaces. More precisely, the main result extends to that spaces the Feng-Kurtz version of the Barles-Perthame procedure, which turns out to be a well established procedure allowing to approximate and to pass to the limit in viscosity super- and sub-solutions without assuming a-priori estimates. The first part of the paper is devoted to an historical presentation of the context of viscosity solutions and the theory of semigroups. Then the author moves to the basic study of of the equation \(f-\lambda Hf=h\) and related pseudo-resolvents. Finally, in the last sections, the main stability results are proved; as a consequence, a convergence result for nonlinear semigroups is obtained. Morover, at the very end some examples are discussed.
