A \(G\)-space \(X\) is called equivariantly cohomological rigid if for any \(G\)-space \(Y\), weak equivariant cohomology isomorphism \(H^*_G(X)\cong H^*_G(Y)\) (as \(H^*(BG)\)-algebras) implies weak equivariant homeomorphism \(X\cong Y\). The authors introduce and study the category of locally \(k\)-standard \(T\)-manifolds, which includes such classical families of smooth manifolds arising in toric topology as toric and quasitoric manifolds, good contact toric manifolds and moment-angle manifolds. Under a mild hypothesis on such a manifold \(M\), they identify the equivariant cohomology ring \(H^*_T(M)\) as the Stanley-Reisner ring of the orbit space of the \(T\)-action on \(M\). They also study the \(H^*(BT)\)-algebra structure on \(H^*_T(M)\), which turns out to encode the complete information about the \(T\)-action on \(M\). Finally, the authors prove that equivariant cohomological rigidity holds in a wide class of locally \(k\)-standard \(T\)-manifolds.
