\textit{P. J. Cameron}'s \(A\) operator [Discrete Math. 75, No. 1--3, 89--102 (1989; Zbl 0685.05001)] is the transformation from the nonnegative integer sequence \(\{x_n\}_{n\ge 1}\) to the nonnegative integer sequence \(\{z_n\}_{n\ge 1}\) via \(1+\sum_{n=1}^\infty x_n t^n=(1-\sum_{n=1}^\infty z_n t^n)^{-1}\). In this paper, two modifications are introduced. One is the restricted operator by the transformation \[ 1+\sum_{n=1}^\infty z_n t^n=(1-\sum_{n=1}^m x_n t^n)^{-1}, \] and another is the associated operator by the transformation \[ 1+\sum_{n=1}^\infty z_n t^n=(1-\sum_{n=m}^\infty x_n t^n)^{-1}. \] The yielded numbers of \(z_n\) are called the restricted numbers and associated numbers, respectively, and the two together are called the incomplete numbers. Examples of the restricted and associated numbers are \(s\)-step Fibonacci sequences and Lamé sequences of higher order, respectively. These names come from the restricted Stirling numbers and the associated Stirling numbers in the book [\textit{C. A. Charalambides}, Enumerative combinatorics. Boca Raton, FL: Chapman \& Hall/CRC (2002; Zbl 1001.05001)]. In each case, every \(z_n\) can be expressed in terms of \(x_n\)'s by combinatorial summations, determinant expressions and so on. By the classical Trudi's formula and the inverse relation, more expressions are obtained. Though some Fibonacci's examples were included in [\textit{T. Komatsu}, Bol. Soc. Mat. Mex., III. Ser. 26, No. 3, 841--863 (2020; Zbl 1473.11040)], more determinantal examples are shown. Only nonnegative integers were intended in the original Cameron's operator, these relations and identities can be extended to those of sequence of negative integers or rational numbers. As applications, hypergeometric Bernoulli, Cauchy and Euler numbers with some modifications are introduced and studied.
