Let Ped\(_{\ell}(n)\) denote the number of \(\ell\)-regular partitions of a positive integer \(n\) with distinct even parts. In the paper under review, the authors establish infinite families of congruences modulo 2 and 4 for Ped\(_{\ell}(n)\) when \(\ell=3,5,7\) and \(11\). They also prove infinite families of congruences modulo \(9\), \(12\), \(18\) and \(24\) for Ped\(_{9}(n)\). For example, the authors prove that for any prime \(p\geq 5\) with \((\frac{-9}{p})=-1\) and \(1\leq r\leq p-1\), and for any nonnegative integer \(\alpha\), the following congruences modulo \(24\) for Ped\(_9(n)\) hold: \[ \mathrm{Ped}_9\left(24\cdot p^{2\alpha +1}(pn+r)+10\cdot p^{2\alpha +2}+1\right)\equiv 0\ \pmod {24}. \] The proofs are based on some q-series identities. Standard generating function manipulations and binomial theorem are also used.
