Many known models do not allow the calculation of the stress-strain state (SSS) of sandwich shells with the required accuracy and degree of detail. Here a new model for the analysis of SSS of irregular sandwich cylindrical shells of rotation is presented. Walls of shells, including the filler, are divided by thickness into some layers, which are combined into blocks in the proposed model. The model takes into account the change in characteristics and parameters of the shell and SSS not only along the meridional and circumferential coordinates of the shell, but also through the thickness and the filler layers. The model also takes into account the discontinuity of the layers, the moment state of the bearing layers, the three-dimensional SSS in the filler, various conditions of clamping and loading of the layers. Analytical methods have great difficulties of a mathematical nature in analysis of such models. To solve these problems, numerical methods are often used. Therefore, the block-layer-by-layer finite-element approach is applied in the article for the analysis of SSS. The large dimension of the known models of layer-by-layer analysis of shells is reduced in the article; effective functions of approximation of deformations and displacements within finite elements are used for this purpose. The proposed model leads also to the minimization of computer time and memory.
