As written in the abstract, ``this paper combines new and known results in a single convenient source for anyone interested in learning about quasi-linear functionals on locally compact spaces''. Let \(X\) be a locally compact space. A real-valued function on a subalgebra \(\mathcal{B}\) of \(C(X)\) is called a quasi-linear functional if it is positive, homogeneous and additive on each closed subalgebra of \(\mathcal{B}\) generated by a single function. Let \(\mathcal{O}(X)\), \(\mathcal{C}(X)\) and \(\mathcal{K}(X)\) denote, respectively, the system of open, of closed and of compact subsets of \(X\). A topological measure on \(X\) is here a function \(\mu: \mathcal{C}(X)\cup\mathcal{O}(X)\rightarrow [0,\infty]\) which is not identically \(\infty\), regular and finitely additive on \(\mathcal{K}(X)\cup\mathcal{O}(X)\). In particular, the author proves a representation theorem for quasi-linear functionals on the space \(C_c(X)\) of continuous functions with compact support. This leads to an order-preserving bijection between the space of these functionals and the space of compact-finite topological measures on \(X\). A similar representation theorem is given for quasi-linear functionals on the space \(C_0(X)\) of continuous functions vanishing at infinity. In the last section of the paper, the author discusses connections of quasi-linear functionals with symplectic geometry and Choquet theory.
