In this paper, the authors consider the dual Vinberg cone, i.e. the 5-dimensional homogeneous non-selfadjoint cone given by \[ \textstyle \Omega=\bigg\{X=\begin{pmatrix}x_1&0&x_4\\ 0& x_2&x_5\\ x_4& x_5&x_3\end{pmatrix}\in V~\big|~X>0\bigg\}. \] They investigate its compression semigroup \(\Gamma\), consisting of the elements \(\gamma\) in the identity component of the holomorphic automorphisms of the associated tube domain, which satisfy \(\gamma (\Omega)\subset \Omega\). Their main results can be summarized as follows. \(\bullet\) As a subgroup of \(\mathrm{Sp}(3,\mathbb{R})\), the group \(\Gamma\) admits a triple decomposition \(\Gamma=\Gamma^+G_0\Gamma^-\), where \[ \Gamma^+=\bigg\{\begin{pmatrix}I&v\\ 0&I\end{pmatrix}~|~v\in\overline \Omega\bigg\},\quad \Gamma^-=\bigg\{\begin{pmatrix}I&0\\ v&I\end{pmatrix}~|~v\in\overline \Omega\cap V'\bigg\}, \] \[ V'=\bigg\{\begin{pmatrix}u_1&0&0\\ 0&u_2&0\\ 0&0&0\end{pmatrix}~|~u_1,\, u_2\in\mathbb{R}\bigg\},\quad H=\bigg\{\begin{pmatrix}a_1&0&0 \\ 0& a_2&0\\ a_4& a_5&a_3\end{pmatrix}~|~a_1a_2\not=0,~a_3>0 \bigg\}, \] and \(G_0=\rho(H)\), where \(\rho\) is the representation \(\rho(A)=Ax A^t,\) for \(A\in H\) and \(x\in V\). \(\bullet\) \(\Gamma\) admits an Olshanski polar decomposition \(\Gamma=G_0\exp C\), where \[ C=\bigg\{\begin{pmatrix}0&v\\ u&0\end{pmatrix}~|~v\in\overline \Omega,~u\in \overline \Omega\cap V'\bigg\}. \] \(\bullet\) \(\Gamma\) does not have the contraction property with respect to the canonical Riemannian metric on the cone.
