The thin obstacle problem: a survey (Q2075298)

In this paper under review, the author gives a self-contained survey on the main currently known results about the thin obstacle problem (Signorini problem). The author presents the regularity theory for the thin obstacle problem together with some proofs, some of which are different from the current literature: for instance the classification result for free boundary points with frequency less than two, the dimension estimates for the non-regular non-singular set. This survey provides a detailed introduction on the original Signorini problem in elasticity as well as several related problems, like the obstacle problem for the fractional Laplacian. It also covers some very recent results on the singular set, non-regular non-singular set and generic regularity. It thus serves a very good resource for those who want to learn the topic and get to know the recent development of the field.
