A weighted composition operator \(T\) on a space of complex-valued functions \(C(K)\) is an operator \[ (Tf)(k)=w(k) f(\varphi(k)), \, k \in K, \, f \in C(K) \] where \(K\) is a Hausdorff space, \(\varphi\) is a continuous mapping of \(K\) into itself and \(w \in C(K)\). \\ The authors study the spectrum and the essential spectra of a weighted composition operator \(T=wT_{\varphi}\) in the case when \(\varphi\) is a non-surjective homeomorphism of \(K\) into itself. A special case, when the map \(\varphi\) is a homeomorphism of \(K\) onto itself was studied by the first author in [Ordered structures and applications.
