In the paper, the upper-tail Large Deviation Principle of the asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on \(\mathbb{Z}\) starts from step initial data and obtains the exact Lyapunov exponents for \(H_0(t)\), the integrated current through 0 which is defined as the number of particles to the right of zero at time \(t\). As a corollary an explicit formula for the upper-tail large deviation rate function for \(-H_0(t)\) is derived. The result obtained in the paper matches with the rate function for the integrated current of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) obtained earlier in [\textit{K. Johansson}, Communications in Mathematical Physics 209, No. 2, 437--476 (2000; Zbl 0969.15008)].
