Let us colour an element of \(\mathbb{Z}^d\) white if its coordinates are coprime and black otherwise. What does this colouring look like? For \(d=2\), this question was investigated in [\textit{I. Vardi}, Commun. Math. Phys. 207, No. 1, 43--66 (1999, zbl 0953.60096)]. The starting point of the present paper is the following question: what does this colouring look like when seen from a point chosen ``uniformly at random'' in \(\mathbb{Z}^d\)? An answer has already been formulated in [\textit{P. Pleasants} and \textit{C. Huck}, Discrete Comput. Geom. 50, No. 1, 39--68 (2013; zbl 1307.37010)] but, according to the author of the paper under review, from the perspective adopted in the current paper the vocabulary, techniques and results are more satisfactory.
